What is the minimum age for participants?
Children as young as 10yrs old have enjoyed some of the activities offered by Escarpment Escapes however parents know their children best and should decide if their children have the capability to participate. Many of the adventures offered by Escarpment Escapes can include hiking up to 5km, often on steep terrain. The height and location of the abseil activities range from 15m to 60m. Read the adventure descriptions carefully and please Contact Us if you have any questions
What if I decide I'm not able to participate in the abseil?
Please be aware that refunds are not available for non-participation. Please also be aware that the nature of some of our adventures means that if you don't participate in the abseil, you may be required to wait at the starting point for several hours before the group returns. Please take this into consideration when booking a young person in for an adventure
What if I've never abseiled before?
Your instructor will provide ground training to teach you correct abseiling technique before your adventure begins
Is abseiling safe?
As with all outdoor activities there is always an element of risk. Rest assured that we have all of the relevant qualifications and experience to ensure your safety while abseiling. We use a belay system which is controlled by your instructor to ensure that if something goes wrong, you'll be safe
Do I need special equipment?
Escarpment Escapes will provide all the necessary equipment for your abseiling adventure
What should I wear?
Dress according to the weather. Close fitting clothing that doesn't restrict movement is recommended. Jeans, dresses, skirts, baggy pants, baggy tops and loose fitting jewellery are not recommended as they either restrict movement or may become entangled in the abseiling device. Wear proper fitting, covered in footwear. You don't need specialised footwear, just make sure that your shoes have plenty of grip
What should I bring?
Essentials include at least 1L of water, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, some snacks, a rubbish bag for your rubbish and a backpack to carry it all. Please remember you will be required to abseil with whatever you decide to bring so try to pack light
How long will it take to complete an adventure?
We aim to complete our adventures within 5hrs. The actual time may be longer or shorter depending on the aptitude of the participants
Why do your adventures involve so much hiking?
The ideal abseiling location allows for a quick and easy return trip to the top of the cliff to allow for multiple abseils. The nature of the terrain around the Toowoomba escarpments doesn't allow for this. If you want to experience the exhilaration of abseiling and taking in the beautiful landscapes on display along our magnificent escarpments, then hiking to and from the abseil location is your only option
Why are your group sizes so small?
Maximum adventure time, minimum downtime is our motto. Smaller group sizes means less waiting around and more fun and excitement
Do you cater for larger groups?
We offer Private Bookings for larger groups and we can modify our adventures to meet your needs. Submit a Private Booking Enquiry or Contact Us to discuss your requirements and we'll do our best to accomodate you
Do you provide transport?
Participants are required to find their own way to the activity
Where do I meet the instructor?
The location and meeting place for each activity is different. Participants will be given directions after booking an adventure
